A freshman organization that presents international outreach and service programs that promote cultural understanding and international awareness. MSC FLI is a place for freshmen to develop into global-minded leaders.
Why apply to MSC FLI?
MSC FLI is a great opportunity to find your people at Texas A&M. We strive to be a family of members who all love to learn about international culture! MSC FLI is one big family that will hopefully become a home here at Texas A&M University. We understand that college can be tough and we are here to be a support system for you.
To provide a glimpse into what the experience of being in MSC FLI looks like, the FLO’s Student Leaders completed an assessment of their previous year. The following should be used as information to help you make an informed decision about being a member of MSC FLI but please note that your experience may look different.
What does a “week in MSC FLI” look like?
A week in the life of a FLI freshman would be a general committee meeting (GCM) and a subcommittee meeting. Each of these only last an hour. A normal week would also include some sort of fun, optional social with some members in FLI. These would range from anything from hanging out in the Student Programming Offices (FLIs home base), going to get some boba, a game night, a FIFA tournament, going to play some type of sport, and so much more!
What did the remote experience look like due to COVID-19?
Whenever we were remote, we had lots of virtual hangouts every week. We were also able to execute a program about four different dance styles from four different regions of the world! The members worked collaboratively via Zoom, Groupme, FaceTime, or whatever means was easiest. We were able to produce four different dance tutorials that not only showed the viewer how to dance, but also some interesting information about the origin and history of each dance.
