Fall Application & Informational Schedule: https://flac.tamu.edu/schedule/
Why apply to FLAKE?
LGBTQ+ and Ally freshmen should apply to FLAKE if they want to find a definitive place and purpose at Texas A&M. We want all members to feel welcome and included, and give them the opportunity to help others in the freshmen class feel this way as well.
To provide a glimpse into what the experience of being in FLAKE looks like, the FLO’s Student Leaders completed an assessment of their previous year. The following should be used as information to help you make an informed decision about being a member of AFC, but please note that your experience may look different.
What does a “week in FLAKE” look like? FLAKE meets on Thursdays at 7pm, but members are in constant contact with one another in our Discord server. There is always someone to meet up with for study sessions, to grab a meal, or to just hang out!
What did the remote experience look like due to COVID-19? With COVID-19, FLAKE was completely remote for Fall 2020. This meant having meetings on Zoom and communicating via our Discord server. For in person events during Spring 2021, all attendees were required to show a negative COVID test as well as wear a mask at all times.
Organization Size:

FLOs are evaluated yearly based on several factors. Three of these factors are Leadership, Service, and Social. Here is what last year’s members experienced in these areas:
Leadership | Each freshman in FLAKE will have numerous opportunities to grow their leadership skills, no matter which committee they join. For example, members of the Publicity committee will create their own designs for social media posts and merchandise. |
Service | FLAKE partners with Dallas Hope Charities. This last year, we held a drive for hygiene and food items in order to make “worthy bags.” |
Social | We had many virtual socials, including movie and game nights. There was also a tie-dye in person social as well as our end of the year picnic! |
Does FLAKE have a Big/Little Program? Yes!
What does the Big/Little Experience entail? Each incoming freshman will be paired with a sophomore or junior staff member or alum of FLAKE.
