Freshman Aggie Ladies Leading (FALL) is a half social, half service-oriented organization that is focused on female empowerment! FALL is committed to making incoming freshmen feel welcomed and become more confident in themselves through our four pillars – empowerment, community, leadership, and service.
Why apply to FALL:
Coming to such a large university may seem daunting, but FALL provides the opportunity to find a smaller community on-campus. Within this community, students are welcomed to grow and learn skills that prove beneficial for their future. FALL creates a built-in community that allows students to truly be themselves while providing the opportunity of creating lifelong friendships and connections. Additionally, FALL offers a hands-on learning experience through professional workshops, communication-building exercises, mock interviews, and leadership opportunities. FALL is freshman-focused, and geared toward making the freshmen’s experience a priority. The following should be used as information to help you make an informed decision about being a member of FALL, but please note that your experience may look different.

 

“What a week in FALL looks like”:
A normal week in FALL consists of attending a general meeting and a committee meeting. Each meeting will be one hour long. Within the week, socials and service events will also be held for all members to attend. By the end of each semester, members must each have a minimum of 10 social points and 5 service points.

General meetings are held on Wednesdays, while committee meetings vary depending on the committee. Every committee meeting will have different times to be more accessible to the freshmen’s schedule. Within committee meetings, freshmen are given the opportunity to enhance their leadership and communication skills, while being given the opportunity to become more engaged with on-campus life.

Being involved with FALL I can expect to pay…

Dues & Known Costs ·  $150 for the entire school year
Financial Aid We are willing to work with members, whether it is through monthly or deferred payments.

 

FLOs are evaluated yearly based on several factors. Three of these factors are Leadership, Service, and Social. Here is what last year’s members experienced in these areas:

Leadership
  • FALL retreat (retreat planned by staff and freshmen that is oriented towards community building)
  • Spring retreat (planned entirely by freshmen that focuses on team-building activities)
  • Mock interviews (geared towards polishing college resume, meeting with the career center, and being interviewed in a business professional and business casual environment)
  • Workshops (given one every week during committee meetings)
Service
  • FALL Festival (planned and coordinated entirely by the service committee where nonprofits around the BCS area come together during the fall semester)
  • Participate in various on-campus events such as The Big Event, BUILD, Shack-a-Thon, Habitat for Humanity
  • Will be coordinating service events with philanthropy “Tiny Hope Village
  • Other service events hosted by the service committee
Social
  • Matriarchy hangouts (hangouts with each freshman’s matriarchy or “small family”)
  • Sadies’ Semi Formal (planned by staff and freshmen to host at the end of the fall semester)
  • Banquet (planned entirely by the freshmen to host at the end of the spring semester)
  • FALLsgiving (FALL’s version of Friendsgiving)
  • GALentine’s (a week of socials leading up to Valentine’s Day where members celebrate the friendships made through FALL)
  • MSC Mondays (eating lunch as a FLO at the MSC every Monday)
  • Study Socials (most often after GCMs where members go to Evans to do some late-night studying)
  • Other weekly social hangouts are planned by our social committee (at least 2 socials are planned per week)
  • Participate in FLO-wide events such as KFD, FLO Bowl, Digs and Gigs, and FLOs Got Talent

Does FALL have a Big/Little Program? Yes

What does the Big/Little Experience entail?

FALL has a Big/Little program that consists of former FALL members serving as Bigs to the new freshman class. The Big/Little program includes events and hangouts planned to engage with and connect former FALL members with current FALL members. Each Big has 2-3 Littles, and Bigs are expected to act as mentors and support systems for their Littles.
